Introduction¶
Welcome to the documentation for das-Peak Streaming software. This documentation aims to provide you with a clear understanding of the product and its features. das-Peak Streaming is a powerful tool designed for real-time registration and authentication of subjects in scenarios where voice biometrics operations need to occur simultaneously with user speech. It leverages the strengths of the Veridas voice biometrics solution and offers authentication with just 3 seconds of speech audio, regardless of the spoken text or language. The primary use case for das-Peak Streaming is the registration and authentication of subjects within Contact Center environments, whether it's an agent-based solution or an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) based solution.
Current Authentication Methods in Contact Centers¶
In Contact Centers, the most commonly used authentication method is Knowledge-based Verification (KBV). This method involves a lengthy (average 30 to 40 seconds) and insecure verification process where users are asked multiple predefined personal data questions to verify their identity. Recently, alternative methods such as Phone-as-a-token methods (OTPs) have emerged to enhance security. However, these methods often compromise customer experience without significant security improvements.
How das-Peak Streaming Addresses Authentication Challenges¶
das-Peak Streaming is designed to minimize the inconvenience of the subject authentication process, improve overall system security, and reduce associated costs. By integrating with Contact Centers (via agents or IVR configuration), das-Peak Streaming enables background subject identification through its voice biometrics service. This eliminates the need for time-consuming personal data questions or waiting for users to dictate OTP messages received on their mobile phones. Instead, users can simply engage in natural conversation with the agent while their authentication takes place seamlessly in the background.
Voice Recording and Biometric Operation¶
Upon request, das-Peak Streaming initiates immediate voice recording of the caller in the background, capturing just enough audio to perform the voice biometric operation. Once the required audio has been collected, das-Peak Streaming sends it to the Veridas cloud das-Peak service for registration or verification. The outcome of the registration/verification process is then communicated back to the Contact Center integration. For agent-based solutions, this information is relayed via the Contact Center UI, whereas for IVR-based solutions, events are used.
Alternative Use Cases¶
In scenarios where the audio has already been recorded and stored as an audio file, real-time processing is not necessary. In such cases, Veridas' das-Peak service can be utilized instead of das-Peak Streaming. Typical usage scenarios for this approach include chatbots, WhatsApp/Telegram apps, virtual assistants, and more.
