Registro Civil

The Registro Civil de Chile (SRCeI) is the Chilean civil registry service under the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights responsible for:

  • Managing and maintaining the Rol Único Nacional (RUN), the national identification number assigned to every Chilean citizen and resident.
  • Registering civil status events such as births, marriages, and deaths.

Established in 1884, Registro Civil is the authoritative source for civil identity information in Chile and provides access to official registries for identity verification purposes.
Registro Civil offers real-time services that enable public and private entities to confirm and validate the identity of Chilean citizens.

Full Digital Onboarding + Registro Civil

In Veridas' full digital onboarding process, the user:

  • Captures the front and back of the ID card or other valid national identification document.

The Veridas platform then:

  • Authenticates the ID document by verifying security features and extracting printed and encoded data (e.g., RUN number, full name, document serial number).

With the Registro Civil connection, selected extracted fields are verified online against the official registry:

  • RUN number is validated against Registro Civil records.
  • Document serial number is validated to confirm the document is currently active and has not been revoked.
    Veridas returns a boolean flag (match/no-match) for the document validity:
Score Description
ValidasScoreRegistroCivilCheck Indicates whether the RUN number sent by Veridas matches exactly with the official records held by Registro Civil. This score specifically confirms if the RUN provided during onboarding exists and aligns correctly with Registro Civil's database.
ValidasScoreRegistroCivilValidity Represents an overall document validity score, verifying whether the document serial number returned by Registro Civil matches the one extracted from the ID document, confirming the document is active and has not been revoked or replaced.

These scores do not affect the ValidationGlobalScore.

Availability

Ensure that document images are of enough quality. Otherwise, this may result in failed or inaccurate processing results.
